Yee-haw! It's rodeo time in Houston (http://www.hlsr.com/). Annette corrals her livestock while riding her stuffed wiener dog (the live ones wouldn't let her sit on them) :-)
She has a denim cowgirl bib just for the occasion!
At the chili cook-off last night (a.k.a. dinner with Morfar and Mormor) :-)
Practicing sitting this morning after being up for an hour and a half last night with teething pain :-(
The topic at Thursday's Mom's Group meeting was "Dad's Role" - since Kendall usually isn't home until after Annette goes to bed during the week, he's taken over the job of getting her up in the morning so he gets to spend a bit of time with her each day :-)
"Wanna play?"
Annette had two big breakthroughs this weekend - she started sitting up (at least for a few seconds) unassisted, and started getting a little tooth poking through her lower gum. Kendall discovered this when she bit down on his finger and he realized there was something sharp in there!

We've had a busy few days! On Sunday we took the dogs to the dog park, where Uli spent most of the time in the water trying to retrieve his ball.
On Monday Annette had her Gymboree class, where she did some tummy time on a balance ball.
Since Mommy was sick yesterday Annette spent the day with Daddy, who took her to the Children's Museum.
They went to the Tot Spot (for kids age 0-36 months), where Annette got to play with some new toys.
Today we had lunch at The Cheesecake Factory with our new friend Sophie and her son Finley, who is a month older than Annette.

Happy 5 month birthday, Annette! Instead of cake, she celebrated with her first bowl of rice cereal :-)
Kendall demonstrates proper mouth-opening techniques
Thank goodness babies ingest food through their chins.
Yesterday afternoon we went to a friend's daughter's 2-year-old birthday party, held at Morgan Road Park in Pearland.
Annette enjoyed trying out a big-girl swing :-)

The topic at today's Mom's Group meeting was "Time-saving Tips" - something that every new mom needs!
Hanging out with her friend Trey
We went out to lunch after the meeting - Annette was very good except for dunking her giraffe toy into a dish full of mustard :-)

Today we went to a "Mommy and Me" yoga class at our church - Annette was smiling at all the other babies :-)
We held the babies while doing some active yoga poses - the older kids didn't cooperate as much as the non-crawlers did!
Annette and I made some new friends
She was so tired afterward that she fell asleep in the middle of chewing on her giraffe :-)

Yesterday afternoon Nani came over to babysit so we could go for an early Valentine's dinner at The Melting Pot. We had a wonderful time and enjoyed our four course fondue meal!
With my little valentine :-)
Today we went to check out the 0-6 month class at Gymboree. Annette LOVED it! She got a foot massage, played peek-a-boo, and did tummy time on a mirror so she could see everyone's reflection.
At the end of the class the instructor blew bubbles around the babies while everyone sang "Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star" :-)

Happy Valentine's Day!!! Annette has had a busy weekend:
She chewed on her valentines,
got kisses from Daddy,
and practiced rolling over!
She also tried out her jumper again, and had fun playing with the toys. She's been getting a lot of wiener dog attention, since we're dog sitting Fritz for Mormor and Morfar while they're on vacation in Miami :-)

2/12/10

On Wednesday we went to lunch with my friend Tanya and her son Trey, who is 3 months older than Annette. We had to sit outside since there were no tables available inside, so it was a bit chilly!
Annette was very jealous that Trey got to sit by himself in a high chair...
...so she tried it out too! She liked reaching for things on the table and being independent - our little girl is growing up so fast :-(

We took advantage of the break in the rain this past weekend and went for a walk in our neighborhood. Annette loves walking around in the Baby Bjorn, especially now that she can face forward and look at everything that's going on :-)
Today we went to our Mom's Group at the hospital. There was a presentation by Just Between Friends, which operates baby clothes and gear consignment sales in the area, and a discussion about issues concerning babies 3-6 months.
Annette really likes looking at other babies, and is getting much better propping herself up while she's on her tummy. She also rolled over from her tummy to her back twice yesterday!

Visiting with Nani...
...and with Grandma Susan last week!
This week Annette had a play date with her new friend Asher, who is a week older than her :-)
